Supermarket for the Young and Hip

I'm sure some of you may have heard about Fresh and Easy. I'm not here to pitch a sale for them, but rather to talk about their branding. Although the store caries many of the world's most recognizable brands, the business focuses more on their own products as the key sales for their stores. As more and more people are startng to follow the fresh and healthy trends, Fresh and Easy seems to be working well with folks all over the country. In these tough economic times the brand is actually carrying itself well with new stores opening all over the country (including the one in Alhambra, CA. I am personally excited about). The companie's branding is definitely the main reason here.

At this point in time, the young, hip, modern generation is dominating the market in design branding as it is not only working with a certain demographic. It seems to be catching everyone by storm. The branding in Fresh and Easy is a perfect example. They may not be the first to use such branding elements as rounded corners, fresh, organic color pallettes and spunky punch lines, but these graphics are certainly working for them. Their branding is simple, ultra modern, and very... fresh(pun not intended). One would think that this store is somewhere along the lines of Gelson's and Whole Foods (upscale, expensive, snotty), but the environment is actually no where near any of the ones mentioned. The stores actually carry a certain corner mart or bodega-like atmosphere. I love the fact that they can mix some of these trendy traits and actaully make it feel like a local neighborhood market (like Liborio Market on 9th and Vermont in Downtown L.A. without the LAPD ha ha ha!).
